What is invisible orthodontics?

Invisible orthodontics corrects the position of your teeth using clear, removable aligners that are custom-made for your mouth. No brackets, no wires, and virtually no one will notice you’re undergoing treatment.

Each set of aligners gradually moves your teeth into their planned position. Before we make the first set, we take a 3D scan of your mouth at our clinic in Ibi and design the entire treatment plan, so you can see a simulation of the final result from day one.

Invisible orthodontics is one of my areas of expertise. Behind every smile we treat lies an accurate diagnosis, digital planning, and personalized follow-up at every visit.

I am Dr. Santiago Espuelas, co-director of the Hernández & Espuelas Dental Clinic and an orthodontic specialist certified by the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. I hold Invisalign Platinum Elite and Spark Sapphire Plus certifications—the highest levels in both clear aligner systems—and in 2024 I completed the Expert Master’s Degree in Clear Aligner Orthodontics. I am a member of the Spanish Aligner Society and have participated in international conferences organized by the European Orthodontic Society. 3D Scan and Simulation of Your Smile

Using the intraoral scanner, we digitize your mouth without uncomfortable impressions and design the movement of your teeth. You’ll see a simulation of your final result before we begin.

You’ll receive your aligners

We’ll give you your Invisalign or Spark aligners and explain how to use them: wear them for about 22 hours a day and switch them out according to the schedule. You should only take them out to eat and brush your teeth.

Follow-up visits

We make sure everything is progressing as planned. Since this is an invisible treatment, appointments are less frequent and shorter than with braces. Dr. Espuelas will see you personally.

Refinement and Retention

If necessary, we’ll fine-tune the final details. When we’re done, we’ll fit a retainer to ensure your new smile stays in place for the long term. A job well done lasts a lifetime.

Which is better, Invisalign or Spark?

Neither is better than the other—they are the two leading systems, and each excels in different areas. The important thing is to choose the one that’s right for you, and we’ll assess that during your first visit.

How many hours a day do I have to wear my aligners?

About 22 hours a day. You only take them out to eat, drink something other than water, and brush your teeth. Consistency is key to ensuring the treatment works within the expected timeframe.

Can you tell I’m wearing clear aligners?

Hardly. The aligners are clear and fit over your teeth, so in everyday life, almost no one notices you’re wearing them.

Can I eat with my aligners in?

No, they take a break to eat and drink. That’s one of the big advantages: you can eat whatever you want without restrictions throughout the entire treatment.

Do clear aligners hurt?

It’s normal to feel some pressure the first few days after switching to a new aligner. It’s not severe pain and goes away in a day or two. It’s usually more comfortable than braces because there’s no rubbing or wires.
