Check-ups and early diagnosis

A full examination of teeth, gums and bite, with X-rays when needed. This is the visit that picks up small cavities and gum problems while they are still easy to treat.

Dental cleaning and hygiene

What does general dentistry include?

Regular check-ups, dental cleaning, fillings, restorations and simple extractions. It is the appointment that prevents and resolves the most common issues, and the one that catches in time whatever needs a specialist.

How often should you go to the dentist?

The general recommendation is a check-up every six months. If your gums are healthy and you rarely get cavities, once a year may be enough. If you have had periodontitis or frequent cavities, the interval should be shorter. At your check-up we tell you which applies to you.

What is the difference between a general dentist and a specialist?

The general dentist is the one who examines you, diagnoses and handles the everyday: check-ups, cleanings and fillings. The specialist works exclusively in one area, such as orthodontics, periodontics or implants. Here you have both under the same roof.

What does a dental cleaning include?

Removing tartar and plaque with ultrasound, above and just below the gumline, followed by a final polish. If on examining you we find tartar below the gum or periodontal pockets, it is no longer a cleaning but a gum treatment, and we explain that before doing anything.

Does a cleaning or a filling hurt?

Cleaning does not usually hurt, although there may be sensitivity if the gums are inflamed. A filling is done under local anaesthetic, so you do not feel it; afterwards there may be some sensitivity to cold for a few days. If you are anxious about the dentist, tell us when you arrive and we take it more slowly.

How much does a check-up or a dental cleaning cost in Ibi?

The price of a cleaning or a filling depends on what we find: a maintenance cleaning is not the same as a mouth with a lot of built-up tartar.
