What are immediate-load implants?

Immediate-load implants are a technique that allows us to place a fixed dental prosthesis on the same day we place the implant, or within 24 hours. Instead of waiting several months for the implant to fuse with the bone before the teeth can be placed, you go home able to chew and smile right away.

The key is planning. Before we even touch your mouth, we examine your bone structure using a 3D dental CT scan and digitally design both the implant placement and the temporary prosthesis. When everything aligns perfectly on the plan, the surgery is faster, more precise, and much more predictable. It’s not a miracle technique—it’s planning and technology applied effectively.

Same-Day Dental Care

You leave the clinic with a fixed prosthesis—no gaps and no waiting for months.

No removable prosthesis

You can avoid wearing uncomfortable removable dentures while your mouth heals.

3D Design

We plan the surgery digitally before we begin, to ensure maximum precision.

Are you a candidate?

Who is eligible for immediate-load implants?

Immediate loading isn’t for everyone, which is why the preliminary evaluation is so important. To have your teeth placed on the same day, the implant needs to be firmly anchored from the very beginning, and that depends mainly on your bone. These are the conditions we assess with a CT scan. And if you don’t meet one of them, you’re not left without a solution: we’ll suggest alternatives such as bone regeneration or a traditional implant.

Good overall and oral health

Safe surgery and proper healing depend on a stable state of health and a healthy mouth. Certain medical conditions or habits, such as smoking, can affect the outcome, so we discuss these with you from the very beginning.

Sufficient, high-quality bone

Immediate loading requires that the implant be firmly anchored right away, and for that, you need bone in sufficient quantity and quality. We measure it down to the millimeter using a 3D CT scan before making any decisions.

Healthy Gums

Active periodontal disease (gum infection) compromises the stability of the implant. If we detect it, we treat it first to ensure the best possible outcome.

No severe, uncontrolled bruxism

Clenching or grinding your teeth with force subjects the implant to excessive stress while it is integrating. If you have bruxism, we’ll manage it (for example, with a mouthguard) before immediate loading.

Instant charging solutions tailored to your needs

Immediate loading can be used to replace a single tooth or to restore an entire arch. Depending on how many teeth you need and the condition of your bone, we choose the most appropriate technique.

Single-tooth dental implant

Single-tooth implants

When you’ve lost a single tooth and conditions allow it, we place the implant and its fixed temporary crown on the same day. No one will notice the gap at any time.

Dental Bridge in Implantology

All-on-4: Full Arch on 4 Implants

If you have lost all or almost all of your teeth in one arch, the All-on-4 technique allows us to restore your entire mouth using just four strategically placed implants. In many cases, this approach makes it possible to avoid bone grafts and have a fixed prosthesis placed on the same day.

All-on-4 and All-on-6 Dental Implants

All-on-6: Full Arch on 6 Implants

When there is sufficient bone and you’re looking for even better force distribution, the All-on-6 method distributes the entire prosthesis across six implants, providing a very stable foundation for your new fixed dentures.

Immediate loading vs. traditional implants

Immediate loading isn’t always better, and the traditional method isn’t outdated: they’re two paths to the same destination, and the right one depends on your bone and your specific situation. The main difference is how long it takes to get fixed teeth and what that process is like. We’ve summarized it for you so you can see it clearly at a glance.

Dr. Fernando Hernández

Who will perform the treatment on me?

Dr. Fernando Hernandez in his new pajamas

Implantology and oral surgery are my specialty, and immediate loading is one of the most rewarding techniques for us, because it changes the patient’s daily life right from the start.

I am Dr. Fernando Hernández, co-director of the Hernández & Espuelas Dental Clinic and a specialist in Oral Surgery and Implantology with a master’s degree from the University of Murcia, where I have also been an associate professor since 2016. I work with top-tier implant systems (Nobel Biocare and Straumann) and plan each surgical procedure using 3D CT scans and guided surgery, because the difference between a good implant and an excellent one lies in the planning. During your first visit, I’ll explain your case with complete transparency and without unnecessary technical jargon.

Testimonials

What do our patients say?

At Hernández & Espuelas, every patient has a different story, but they all have one thing in common: they came in with a question or a problem and left with a solution. Here’s what they’ve told us.

Highly recommended—I’ve been going there for years, and even though they’ve changed their name, the staff has always been very friendly and attentive, always willing to give you recommendations and help you in any way they can.

Daniel Leal

Everyone was great to work with. A fantastic result, and Álvaro and Fernando were very professional.

Rubén M.

I had very little bone, and several clinics had told me that my case was complicated. At Hernández & Espuelas, Dr. Hernández explained everything to me calmly and without any pressure. I had immediate-load implants placed and left the clinic the same day with permanent teeth—and I had thought I was going to have to wear removable dentures. I’m thrilled with the result.

Step by Step

How is an immediate-load implant placed?

The entire process is designed to be predictable and convenient for you. Here are the steps, from the initial diagnostic test to your final prosthesis.

1

Digital Planning with 3D CT Scans

We perform a dental CT scan to examine your bone in three dimensions and use computer-aided design to determine the exact position of each implant and your temporary prosthesis before surgery.

2

Guided Surgery and Implant Placement

On the day of the procedure, if necessary, we remove the damaged tooth and place the titanium implant using guided surgery, following the digital plan down to the millimeter. It is a precise and minimally invasive procedure.

3

Your temporary teeth, on the same day

That same day, or within 24 hours, we’ll screw a temporary fixed prosthesis onto the implants. You’ll go home with functional teeth and your full smile.

4

Osseointegration: the bone fusing with the implant

Over the next 3 to 6 months, the implant will naturally fuse with the bone. During this phase, you’ll need to eat a soft diet to avoid putting pressure on it and allow it to integrate safely.

5

Placement of the Permanent Prosthesis

Once the implant has integrated, we replace the temporary prosthesis with the permanent one, which is custom-made to look and function just like your natural teeth. A job well done lasts a lifetime.
